Raw Tabouli Salad with Sprouted Quinoa

This recipe is from my husband, who NEVER fixed food till he discovered sprouted quinoa! He found that it has all the essential amino acids and tastes great. He sprouts it at least four hours, or overnight. Then he drains and rinses it. It has toxins in it so you need to sprout it and drain and rinse thoroughly.

In tabouli, a delicous Middle Eastern salad, use it instead of wheat bulgur. You can mix it in with chopped green onions, lemon or lime juice, olive oil, chopped mint, chopped tomatoes and chopped cilantro to make a great tabouli salad!

    Example:

    1 cup sprouted quinoa
    1 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt
1/4 cup lemon or lime juice
2 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
    4 tbsp green onions
    1 cup parsley
    1.2 cup cilantro
    1/2 cup fresh mint
    4 tomatoes

    5-Minute Dairy-Free Ice Cream
posted by Michelle Schoffro Cook Sep 3, 2010 4:11 pm
This is the fastest, easiest, and most nutritious ice cream you can make. What’s more, not only does it taste great, you don’t need an ice cream machine to make this yummy treat. As long as you have a fairly high-powered blender, you can enjoy this soft-serve dessert.

2/3 cup raw, unsalted Brazil nuts

2/3 cup fresh medjool dates, pitted (about 8 dates, more if you prefer a sweeter ice cream)

    1/2 cup water

    2 tsp pure vanilla extract

    20 medium-sized ice cubes

    1. Blend the Brazil nuts, dates, water, and vanilla together until smooth.

    2. Add the ice cubes and blend until smooth.

    Serve immediately.

Options: add fresh strawberries or blueberries for a real treat.

The F.U.N. Place Recipe Box Archives
    Ziplock Ice Cream

    * 1/2 cup milk (doesn’t matter what kind, use almond milk)
    * 1 Tablespoon raw sugar
    * 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or other flavor

    1. Add ingredients to pint size ziplock bag and zip shut.
    2. Place that bag in larger ziplock bag.
    3. Add ice to fill bag 1/2 way and 6 Tablespoons of salt.
    4. Zip that one shut and shake, turn, toss, and mix the bag. In about 5-10 minutes you will have cold hands and yummy ice cream.

Do not double recipe!! Kids may want to use mittens to do this!

    Have fun! :~)

NOTE: You may need to put an additional large ziploc bag over the one containing the salt and ice since they tend to spring leaks once you get into the shaking it up.

    Fresh Fennel and Lemon Slaw

A big bowl of coleslaw is practically a requirement for any summer cookout. And really, there’s no better accompaniment to a juicy burger or a hot skewer of roasted veggies than a scoop of cool, crunchy slaw. If your only idea of coleslaw is the gloppy, mayonnaise-heavy cabbage salad of our youth, take a look at these recipes!

To our mind, a slaw is all about texture: the uniformly shredded ingredients, the contrast of raw veggies with creamy dressing, the way everything comes together to crunch and pop in every bite. We love cabbage slaws, but we also really love experimenting with other raw summer vegetables. Everything is so fresh and tasty this time of year, it’s hard to go wrong!

    Here’s the raw food recipe:

    Raw Gooey Cinnamon Buns

    Ingredients:

    1 1/4 cup almond meal
    1 cup ground flax seed
1 1/4 cup soft pitted dates
1/4 cup water or more if needed
    1/4 cup softened coconut oil
    1/4 cup raisins
    1/4 cup chopped pecans
    2 tablespoon cinnamon
    1 tablespoon coconut butter
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 pinch sea salt

    Preparation:

Fold the almond meal, ground flax seed, 1 Tbsp. cinnamon, pinch sea salt, and pinch of vanilla in a bowl. Set aside.

Process dates, 1/2 of the raisins, water and vanilla into a paste in a food processor. Then remove half of that paste mixture and add it to the dry ingredients, along with the coconut oil.

Mix these ingredients with your hands until it forms a dough. You may need to add a little water or oil if it is too dry.

Spread the dough out on a piece of parchment paper, and shape it into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.

Take the rest of the date paste left in your food processor add the remaining raisins, 1 Tbsp. of cinnamon and coconut butter. Process until smooth. Then, spread a thin layer of the paste onto the dough.

Using the parchment paper to help hold everything together, carefully roll the dough into a log. Chill in the refrigerator, and then slice into about 1-inch thick rounds.

These cinnamon rolls can be eaten right away or warmed in a dehydrator.

    Optional:

    Cashew Whipped Cream

    By Nomi Shannon
1 cup cashews, soaked at least 2 hours
4 dates – soaked at least 2 hours
    vanilla bean
water (enough to yield a light fluffy mixture)

    http://www.naturalnews.com/029619_teeth_cleaning.html

(NaturalNews) For those people who are familiar with more natural approaches to cleansing the teeth and gums, here is something interesting that may not be known. Many of these same people are not aware that in the long-term, the heavily touted baking soda and food-grade hydrogen peroxide tend to have a harsh effect on the teeth and gums. Although both of these products are inexpensive, there are much better options for this purpose that are as well inexpensive as of highest-quality, healthful, gentle, very effective and a snap to prepare.

The worst products to use for dental care…

For those people who use conventional commercial toothpaste, here is why to avoid these products. The very worst thing for any person’s teeth/gums is conventional/commercial (chemicalized) toothpaste. Commercial dental-care pastes usually contain one or more of these teeth/gum damaging ingredients — triclosan, fluoride, polyethylene glycols, surfactants (a.k.a. foaming agents such as sodium lauryl sulfate), toxic metals, artificial sugars, glycerin, hydrated silica and sodium hydroxide. Also, these ingredients are often found in so-called natural brands of toothpaste. It is wise to read all labels very carefully.

Brush up on the various and truly natural ways to cleanse teeth and gums…

Why is Himalayan pink crystal salt included in the following recipes for cleansing the teeth and gums?

    *It’s pure.
*It has 80+ minerals in colloidal form.
    *It promotes bone health.
    *It is detoxifying.
    *It promotes a healthy balance.

Let’s now explore some recipes that clean the teeth and gums. In addition, these recipes are healing to them and they also freshen the breath.

Neem Leaf and Neem Oil Teeth/Gum Treatment

Grind organic neem leaf to a powder.
Add the powdered neem leaf to an equal amount of highest-quality pink Himalayan salt.
Stir in enough cold-pressed neem seed oil to make a paste.

Neem’s special alkaloids and liminoids wonderfully clean the teeth. Neem prevents both cavities and gum disease. It treats gingivitis and swollen/bleeding gums. Neem leaf and neem seed oil are part of a fast-growing evergreen tree. Neem is antiviral and it is anti-bacterial. It also has astringent, antiseptic, antifungal, antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory properties.

    Aloe and Peppermint Teeth/Gum Treatment

Grind organic peppermint leaf to a powder to make 1/2 cup.
Add the powdered peppermint leaf to an equal amount of highest-quality pink Himalayan salt.
Using a glass dropper, add 10 drops of organic therapeutic-grade peppermint essential oil.
Mix in enough cold-pressed organic aloe vera gel to make a paste.

Peppermint is a polyvalent providing the following 8 very healthful properties — antibiotic, anti infectious, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiparasitic and antiseptic; it is an astringent and a stimulant.

Aloe vera gel eliminates pathogenic oral microflora (disease-causing bacteria in the mouth). As well, aloe latex contains anti-inflammatory anthraquinones that heal and arrest pain.

In Part II: We have more natural dental care recipes for you…

    http://www.naturalnews.com/029618_dental_health.html

NaturalNews) In Part I: We explored both teeth and gum cleansing treatments of neem leaf and neem seed oil in addition to aloe vera gel and peppermint. We also explained why Himalayan pink crystal salt is used in these recipes for cleansing the teeth and gums. Ever thought to use the following for cleansing the teeth and gums — coconut oil, lemongrass, cinnamon, clove and/or palm fruit oil? In Part II, we will examine the benefits of these to the teeth and gums as well as provide related recipes for natural dental care.

Coconut Oil and Lemongrass Teeth/Gum Treatment

Measure out 1/2 cup of highest-quality pink Himalayan salt.
Mix in an equal amount of freshly powdered organic lemongrass.
Using a glass dropper, add 10 drops of organic therapeutic-grade lemongrass essential oil.
Add enough coconut oil (raw unrefined cold-pressed organic) to make a paste.

Lemongrass has these very healthful 11 properties — antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiparasitic, antiseptic, antiviral, astringent, bactericidal, deodorant and tonic.

Coconut oil provides antifungal and antibacterial properties. It is extremely powerful as an antiviral. Coconut oil also contains these incredible medium-chain fatty acids of capric, caprylic and lauric.

Cinnamon Clove and Palm Fruit Oil Teeth/Gum Treatment

Grind organic sweet cinnamon chips (true cinnamon) to make 1/2 cup.
Add the powdered cinnamon to an equal amount of highest-quality pink Himalayan salt.
Using a glass dropper, add 10 drops of organic therapeutic-grade clove bud essential oil.
Add enough palm fruit oil (cold-pressed unrefined organic extra-virgin) — by which highly detailed sustainable harvesting protocols are used — to make a paste.

First off, please do not confuse palm kernel oil with palm fruit oil. Red palm oil (a.k.a. palm fruit oil) is a powerhouse of nutrition which makes it superb for the teeth and gums. In addition to its beta-carotene, alpha-carotene and lycopene, it has 20+ other carotenes. Palm fruit oil contains fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin K, CoQ10, squalene, phytosterols, flavonoids, phenolic acids and glycolipids. Red palm oil has all 4 tocotrienols. These tocotrienols have up to 60 times the antioxidant activity of ordinary vitamin E. The combination vitamin E, tocotrienols, carotenes and other antioxidants is what makes palm fruit oil a superb antioxidant food and thus a terrific teeth/gum treatment. Palm fruit oil is so full of nutrients and antioxidants that it is like a natural dietary supplement.

Clove bud has these 8 very important dental enhancing properties of — analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiseptic and antiviral.

True cinnamon offers up phenolic compounds, tannins, catechins, calcium, iron, mucilage and resin.

    Thank you for reading!
